Re-elect Rich Blonna

If the issue of water quality is important to you, then I encourage you to support Rich Blonna’s re-election to the Marco Island City Council. Rich has been a dedicated advocate for our community, particularly in his efforts to improve and maintain the quality of our waterways.

I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact of Rich’s work, while I was chair of the Waterways Advisory Committee. Our intricate system of canals, which is vital to our island’s ecosystem and economy, was once declared impaired due to high nitrogen levels. Thanks to Rich’s leadership and collaboration with the Waterways Advisory Committee, we have seen significant improvements. The nitrogen levels have been steadily decreasing, and we are on track to be removed from the impaired list within a year.

Rich’s commitment to our waterways doesn’t stop there. He has been proactive in addressing new challenges, such as the declining oxygen levels in our canals. Rich has been instrumental in assisting the Waterways Committee to stay focused on how best to improve our water quality.

Moreover, Rich’s dedication extends to our beautiful beaches. As the City Council liaison to the Beach and Coastal Resources Advisory Committee, he has worked tirelessly to protect our fragile coastal ecosystem. His efforts to restore Tiger Tail lagoon after the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma are a testament to his unwavering commitment to our community.

Rich Blonna’s expertise, passion, and proven track record make him the ideal candidate to continue serving on the Marco Island City Council. I urge my fellow residents to join me in supporting Rich Blonna for re-election. Together, we can ensure the continued health and prosperity of our beloved island.
